Singing Willows Welcomes New Performers To Their New Inclusive Children’s Musical Theatre Project
We are delighted to announce that Singing Willows has found the two new performers joining our exciting inclusive children’s musical theatre production, Singing Willows and The Magical Bed. We are thrilled to welcome Amy Murray as our BSL performer and Steve Worsley as our musical theatre performer for the project.
Meet Amy Murray
Amy is a Deaf performer and freelance artist working across theatre and film. She has toured extensively in children’s theatre, most recently performing in The Detective Dog, an inclusive, high-energy production combining BSL, music, and visual storytelling.
Alongside performing, Amy is currently involved in several research and development projects for both children and adult audiences. She will also soon be performing at the Wildhood Festival. In addition, Amy is developing her own creative work exploring Deaf identity through comedy, while continuing her work in film and art department roles.
Amy was drawn to Singing Willows because of its magical and imaginative world, where storytelling, music, and moments of wonder, including a very special magical bed, bring the story to life. As a performer who loves musical theatre and song, she was especially excited by the show’s playful and musical nature. Accessibility is deeply important to Amy, and she is passionate about ensuring Deaf and hard of hearing children can fully experience the joy, excitement, and magic of live theatre.
Meet Steve Worsley
Steve has worked as a professional actor for more than 20 years. He is a founding member of the award-winning improv comedy troupe Men With Coconuts, who have performed across Scotland as well as at the Edinburgh Fringe, Prague Fringe, and Adelaide Fringe, where they won the award for Best Comedy Show. Alongside his stage work, Steve is also a prolific audiobook narrator, working with bestselling authors including Stuart MacBride, T. G. Reid, Peter May, and Chris Brookmyre. When not improvising or narrating, Steve performs around the country in a Rat Pack tribute show.
Steve shared his excitement about joining Singing Willows, saying there was something instantly magical about the project that captured his imagination the perfect blend of storytelling, music, and playfulness. He also spoke warmly about the welcoming atmosphere of the company and the collaborative, creative environment being built around the production.
We are incredibly excited to begin this next stage of development with Amy and Steve and can’t wait to share more updates about Singing Willows and The Magical Bed soon.
